Sabiha Mujtaba

Sabiha Mujtaba is a designer and maker of furniture and carvings of one-of-a-kind creations. Operating her business in Atlanta, GA since 1986 as Chrysalis Woodworks, Sabiha has developed a style of design from her sculptural training in London, UK. Her South Asian heritage reflects the cross cultural influences in her work of both east and west.

Sabiha and her work have been featured in print, screen and on-air, and represented in juried shows and galleries nationally. Purchased and commissioned art works are in private collections and institutions. Working and designing for clients has given her a wider range of possibilities in her own practise as a maker and carver.

As an instructor Sabiha engages and guides students towards their own design sensibilities through cross-reference that resonate with other arts: poetry, dance, story-telling, music and so on, expressed in wood as the medium.

Sabiha teaches various classes in woodworking skills, design development and carving in wood. Apart from weekend scheduled classes at Highland Woodworking in Atlanta she has taught several sessions at Penland, NC and Arrowmont,TN Schools of Arts and Crafts.
