Tuition & Registration Process for Intensives

Tuition, Registration, & Cancellation Policies for Intensives

Registration

Registration is initiated after the student is offered and accepts a spot in the program. This will typically be one to two weeks after the application submission deadline.

Registration is managed by our Registrar and processed through Active Network, our registration software. Questions can be addressed to registrar@ptwoodschool.org.

Tuition and Payment

2024-25 Tuition

Tuition for the 12-week intensives, Foundations of Woodworking I and Foundations of Woodworking II, is $9,015. This includes $400 for materials and a $75 non-refundable registration fee.

Tuition Discounts:

For students enrolling in both Foundations of Woodworking I and II, a discount is available.

Six-month sequence discount: $1,800

Discounts are only available for intensives sequenced in the same program year; from Fall to Winter quarter, and from Winter to Spring. Discounts are calculated on tuition only and do not apply to materials fees.

To be eligible for these discounts, students must pay the sum of tuition and fees for all of the intensives in the sequence, less the appropriate discount, in full, by the start of the first intensive. A discount will be added after payment to remove the remaining balance on the account. All payments are subject to cancellation policies as described below.

Intensive Payment Schedule:

Non-Refundable Registration Fee (due at the time of registration)

  • 10% 1st Deposit (due at the time of registration)

  • 30% 2nd Deposit (due 90 days before class start date)

  • 60% Final Payment (due 60 days before class start date)

Due to the high cost of credit card processing fees, we ask that students make the final or largest payment by personal check, money order or bank check and mail it to: Port Townsend School of Woodworking, 200 Battery Way, Port Townsend, WA 98368

Current Fees:

2024-25 Fees (Starting Fall 2024):

Materials

A materials deposit of $400 is included in the total payments of $9,015. For Foundations of Woodworking I, this will typically cover all of a student's materials fees for the course. For Foundations of Woodworking II, students tend to spend more than $400 on materials, those costs are typically processed through materials suppliers locally and at the discretion of each student. Any unused materials deposit will be returned at the end of the course. You may use the materials deposit to buy books, finish, wood, fasteners, and hardware from PTSW.

Students using the Veterans Education benefits will pay for books out of pocket using the books and supplies stipend sent directly to them from the VA.

Refund & Cancellation Policies

Refund Schedule - non-VA students:

  • The $75 registration fee is non-refundable.

  • The 10% deposit is refundable up to 91 days prior to class start date.

  • The 30% deposit is refundable up to 61 days before the start date. Delaying this payment may result in losing your place in the class.

  • The 70% final payment is refundable in full up to 31 days before the start date. Again, delaying this payment may result in losing your place in class.

  • You may request a refund from 30 days prior to the start of class until 5 days after the beginning of class, during which time the school will refund 50% of your final payment. After this time all payments are non-refundable unless extreme circumstances require special consideration.

  • The materials deposit of $400 (included in the total cost) may be used to purchase wood, finish, fasteners, hardware, and for non-VA students, books. The unused portion of the deposit will be returned to the student during the last week of class.

    Refund Schedule - VA students:

VA students are subject to an alternate refund schedule as detailed in our VA catalog.
