Cody Wayland
Cody Wayland is an artist, a creative builder, and a sawyer. His work focuses on local lumber and ethics in the woodworking industry to inspire creative expression and vitality. He aims to nourish the forest and nurture creative expression in his clients, customers, and students.
His formal education in studio art and his apprenticeships around the world studying woodwork, building and the interplay between function and aesthetics braid together with Wayland’s unbounded appreciation for the natural essence of the land. At the heart of his art is an organic expression of nature and human relationship.
For eight years, Wayland has worked with local lumber in his projects for clients all over the west coast. He partners with Jefferson Land Trust to cultivate sustainable practices in the woodworking industry and keep lumber local. He owns and operates a small business, Wayland Constructive llc, which offers spatial therapy and design consulting and tends a woodworking shop, sawmill and wood kiln.
